Oct 01, 2026 —
Categories
The tour will explore approaches to reforestation and nursery production in Vermont and broadly in the Northeast, with a focus on restoring, diversifying, and adapting northern forests to changing conditions. The day will entail a tour of an adaptive planting trial designed to address the impacts of emerald ash borer and climate change on rich northern hardwood forests followed by a tour of a nearby nursery established by Redstart Forestry to support their reforestation efforts and learn about the process of producing seedlings. The event will combine field presentations, demonstrations, and informal discussion, with opportunities for participants to learn and share experiences, challenges, and ideas for expanding reforestation and nursery capacity in the region.
Participation in this tour is eligible for 3.5 Category 1 CFEs. Also travel stipends are available to help reduce barriers to participation, particularly for students, rural participants, and working professionals. Learn more while registering.
