Join the Forest Stewards Guild, Aurora Sustainable Lands, West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, and West Virginia NRCS for a field-based workshop exploring how forestry can support wildlife habitat while meeting operational, economic, and landowner objectives.

 

We will learn about:

  • Managing forests for multiple objectives
  • Wildlife habitat benefits
  • Comparing silvicultural prescriptions
  • Harvest layout and operational considerations
  • Watershed protection during forestry operations
  • Oak regeneration challenges and opportunities
  • Long-term forest composition and resilience
  • Wood product markets and utilization opportunities
  • FSC certification and market opportunities

This workshop is designed for foresters, loggers, and natural resource professionals interested in managing forests for multiple values, including wildlife habitat, timber production, watershed protection, and long-term forest resilience. Continuing Education Credits will be available at this event.

 

Please dress appropriately for weather and a refillable water bottle. Lunch will be provided. Please be prepared to walk about a mile or more on uneven terrain.
